Drive along Shoreline Drive, and you will pass a magnificent sculpture of Jesus, standing at the end of his boat, arms stretched out over the waves, calming the sea. Some of our youth giggle and call him "Surfin' Jesus," but we all know who holds the sea and the sky in his hands!

First United Methodist Church is the oldest church in Corpus Christi, founded in 1846, with the first church building built in 1853. For over 160 years, a Methodist presence has led and directed the city into the present age, and we continue to be committed to leading this community forward.
