Join us as we welcome Dr. Leonard Sweet to First United Methodist Church!
Leonard Sweet is a scholar of American culture; a scholar who "sees things the rest of us do not see, and dreams possibilities that are beyond most of our imagining." In 2006 and 2007, Len was voted by his peers “One of the 50 Most Influential Christians in America” by ChurchReport Magazine. In 2010, he was selected by the top non-English Christian website as one of the “Top 10 Influential Christians of 2010” (from the website leonardsweet.com). Sweet has written more than 50 books, including his best sellers: “Soul Tsunami”, “Aqua Church”, “Jesus Manifesto”, and, most recently, “A Well Played Life“ (available March, 2014).
Dr Sweet will be preaching on Sunday, March 23, at 8:30 a.m., and at a combined worship service at 11:00, in the sanctuary. His sermon title is “Tablet or Table?”, and he will be preaching from Luke 14: 12-14. Sunday evening, beginning at 6:00 p.m., Dr Sweet will present “You Don’t ‘Work’ a Violin: You Play It”, based on his most recent book, “A Well-Played Life”.
On Monday, March 24, Dr Sweet will be speaking at a luncheon, beginning at 12:00 noon, and ending at 1:30 p.m. There will be a selection of Dr. Sweet’s books for sale, which he is willing to sign on Sunday evening, or Monday after lunch. Join us as we welcome one of the premier Christian thinkers of his generation, Dr. Leonard Sweet!
